Turquoise, Ostrich Shell and Olive Tree Wood Bead Necklace Turquoise and ostrich shell disks alternate in the front portion of this necklace which sports an old copal amber trade bead at its center. The sterling clasp joins olive tree wood beads alternating with picture jasper rondelles and touches of ostrich shell and black onyx beads. Ostrich shell beads are a traditional bead-making material used for over 9,000 years in Kenya. Copal amber is like amber in that is ancient tree resin. It is found in Korea, Zanzibar, and near the Tanzanian coast. Many African tribes as well as the Somalis and the Berbers admire copal. Somewhat ethnic and very earthy, this striking necklace is also comfortable to wear. Choose a length from 15 to 22 inches.
