Polishing Cloth & Care of Jewelry Suggestions SUNSHINE POLISHING CLOTH This non-toxic polishing cloth combines no-scratch microparticles and chemical cleaners to give your jewelry a long-lasting luster. Use it on precious metals, chrome, silverware, flatware, mirrors, musical instruments, ceramics, wood, and more. 7-3/4” x 5 inches. CARE OF JEWELRY SUGGESTIONS Semi-precious stones and pearls: Proper care of precious beads and pearls is important to their lasting life and beauty. Some substances are soft and vulnerable to scratching while others are more porous. With time, they absorb moisture and dirt and may discolor. Any contact of your beads with perfumes, hairsprays, deodorants, and some household products including vinegar, ammonia, and bleach should be avoided. Wash them with pure mild soap or wipe them with a soft cloth. Store them wrapped in a soft fabric or acid-free tissue. PEARLS are a softer substance; therefore, sealed plastic bags are a good choice for long-term storage. Note: TURQUOISE should not be stored in plastic bags as it will affect the color over time. Silver & Copper: Over time exposure to air causes a natural patina, or oxidation to occur on silver and copper. Regular polishing with a special cleaning cloth or silver cleaner will keep the shine on your silver and copper. However, with some jewelry, some oxidation is preferred. Storing silver and copper in airtight plastic bags will prolong the shine. Leather: From time to time leather should be conditioned with a good leather conditioner or hide rejuvenator.
